Understanding AI Credits

Billing & Plans

AI credits are the usage units that power AI features in VersanaCX™ — including reply suggestions, conversation summaries, draft generation, and automated responses.

Every plan includes a monthly allocation, and credits refresh automatically each month.

This guide explains how credits work, what uses them, and how to manage your usage.

What AI Credits Are

Each time VersanaCX™ uses AI to assist your team — generating a reply suggestion, summarizing a conversation, or processing an automated response — it consumes a small number of credits.

Credits are a simple way to measure and manage your team's AI usage.

Credits are not tied to individual users. They're shared across your entire workspace, so your whole team draws from the same monthly pool.

What Uses Credits

The following actions consume credits:

  • AI reply suggestions — when the system drafts a response for an agent to review.
  • Conversation summaries — when AI generates a summary of a conversation thread.
  • Automated responses — when AI sends a reply on behalf of your team (requires automation activation).
  • AI classification — when incoming messages are analyzed for intent, sentiment, and priority.

Simple actions like opening a conversation, assigning it to a team member, or sending a manual reply do not use credits.

Credits by Plan

Each plan includes a monthly credit allocation:

  • Solo ($19/mo) — AI credits are not included. Upgrade to access AI features.
  • Starter ($59/mo) — 3,000 credits per month.
  • Growth ($129/mo) — 10,000 credits per month.
  • Scale ($249/mo) — 30,000 credits per month.

Credits refresh on the first of each month. Unused credits from the previous month do not carry over.

Boost Packs

If your team needs more credits before the monthly refresh, you can purchase a Boost Pack from your Billing settings.

Boost Packs add credits immediately and are available in several sizes. They do not affect your base monthly allocation.

Monitoring Your Usage

You can track your current credit balance and usage trends from your workspace dashboard.

The AI performance section shows how credits are being consumed across different AI features.

If your workspace is approaching its monthly limit, consider reviewing which AI features are most valuable to your workflow and adjusting automation settings accordingly.

Operational Tips

  • Start with AI in assistive mode (draft suggestions) to understand your usage patterns before enabling automation.
  • If credits run low toward the end of the month, AI features will pause until the next refresh or a Boost Pack is purchased.
  • Teams with high conversation volume may benefit from the Growth or Scale plan for a larger monthly allocation.
