Connecting your Shopify store allows VersanaCX™ to retrieve relevant order information during support conversations.
This improves draft accuracy and reduces manual lookup for agents.
This guide walks you through the connection process, permissions, security, and troubleshooting.
Who Can Connect Shopify
Only a tenant owner can connect or disconnect a Shopify store.
Administrators and agents do not have integration-level permissions.
How to Connect
- Navigate to Dashboard → Settings → General.
- Locate the Shopify Integration section.
- Click Connect Shopify.
- You will be redirected to Shopify's authorization screen.
- Review the requested permissions.
- Approve access.
After approval, you will be redirected back to VersanaCX™ and the integration status will update automatically.
Permissions Requested
VersanaCX™ requests read-only access to order data required for customer support workflows.
No payment details are accessed or stored.
Access scope is limited to what is necessary for order context retrieval.
What Happens After Connection
Once connected, several capabilities become available:
- Order context becomes available for order-related conversations.
- AI Draft Assist can include structured order details.
- Shadow Mode evaluation may incorporate order information.
- Automation (if eligible) may use order metadata during response generation.
All usage remains subject to automation governance and tenant-level controls.
Security Controls
Shopify access tokens are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM.
Tokens are never logged.
All requests are executed within the tenant boundary and protected by row-level security (RLS).
Order data is not shared across tenants.
If Authorization Fails
If the authorization process fails:
- Confirm you are logged into the correct Shopify account.
- Confirm you have permission to install apps on the store.
- Retry the connection process.
If the issue persists, contact support with the timestamp of the attempt.
Disconnecting Shopify
- Navigate to Dashboard → Settings → General.
- Click Disconnect Shopify.
- Confirm the action.
Disconnecting immediately stops further order data retrieval.
Existing conversation history is not modified.
Automation & Governance Note
Connecting Shopify does not enable automation by default.
Automation must be earned through Shadow Mode validation and remains subject to platform-level safeguards and lifecycle revalidation rules.
